These guys! They are good people! They took off work, drove out to the middle of nowhere and even flew all the way from Los Angeles, for me! I’m so happy to have them in my life!

Anthony and I had planned on swinging by an indoor go kart track on our way to a family dinner on Friday. When we walked in we were taken to a room to watch an instructional video. The room was dark and almost every seat was taken- I hate being the last in! As I was grabbing a seat in the back the lights switched on, everyone turned around and I heard a big “Happy Birthday Hannah!!”

I don’t usually go crazy for Target’s designer collections, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited when they announced their collaboration with Jason Wu. My initial excitement clearly lost it’s luster as I just (almost two weeks since it hit stores) checked out the line last night. The collection was severely picked over- only XS and XL sizes left, except, a pale...

Even though Captain loathes holidays like Valentine’s Day, I can’t control myself- I must make him goodies! This year I made him an arrow out of a dried branch and some chipped brick from my parent’s farm. I spent the last couple nights hiding in my bathroom painting and gluing leather and feathers to it. I also made him a little card that says ‘this way to my...

How dreamy is Yew Dell? It was love at first site when we walked through that big red barn, followed the winding paths through the gardens and came upon a castle (previously a pool house!). If that wasn’t enough, then we met that little kitty, Persimmon. The hunt for a wedding venue is over. We have a winner!

Last night we met up with our friends HH and DD at one of DD’s top five Louisville restaurants: The Irish Rover. It was my first time eating there and I was not disappointed. Captain and HH got the fish & chips, while DD and I each got the welsh rabbit, which is basically a giant grilled cheese. It’s ridiculously good. I ended the night with a slice of sticky toffee pudding. As...

On Saturday I got to experience my very first potluck and boy was it a treat! Our friends, Hillary and Dan of Kin Ship Press, hosted the soiree at their house. I couldn’t help but snap photos of all the bright details in their home- so much goodness everywhere! The evening was full of friends, music, real talk and some of the yummiest food I’ve had in a long time!

Twon has my camera out in CA with him, so I’ve only got photos from my iPhone (via Instagram) to share with you. My latest record purchase includes Blue by Joni Mitchell- every song is incredible. Lusting over this Comet I saw while in Brandenburg. A sneak peek from a special something I made for a friend’s birthday. Homemade Belgian waffles for dinner! I took a walk with the dogs...

I couldn’t wait to share this little book called Owl’s Surf Club with you guys! I picked it up from writer, illustrator and all around creative guy Justin “Scrappers” Morrison. He created the book for his son Camper- how sweet is that! Then Scout Books turned it into a simple little pocket book, so that we can all have access to this adorable story about an owl whooo wants...

Life according to my iPhone via instagram. Diego being cute as ever. I tried my hand at baking homemade apricot bread pudding- it was edible. Dessert with friends of banana oreo pudding. We finally said goodbye to our Christmas tree- sadness.
Pizza night with friends- the drinks come to you via train- always a showstopper! The girls met sweet Diego for the first time. He was hamming it up for...

I’ve got a handful of photographs to share with you from Friday night- just some detail shots of the gang setting up. Care to take a listen? More Gangly Youth here and here.

Thought I would share this little video we made of our friends, Gangly Youth, playing at Harley’s in Louisville, KY. Shout out to Mama- that sweet old deary made me the best chili cheese tater tots. She’s heaven sent.

We mostly visited the Frazier Museum so I could check out the Rough Road Photographic Project. In 1975, three photographers began a journey through Kentucky, taking photos in each of Kentucky’s 120 counties- creating a photographic record of the state. If you live in the area, I highly recommend checking out the exhibit.

As we made our way to Ghent, West Virginia I started noticing signs for Tudor’s Biscuit World and instantly became obsessed. Come to find out, Tudor’s is a West Virginia staple. After eating there, I understood why: it’s pure homestyle goodness. We stopped on our way out of town to grab a sack of biscuits for the road home. I’ve been eating them with apple butter I bought...

We had lots of fun ringing in the new year with these fine folks. My cheeks still hurt from laughing so much! My favorite part of the trip would have to be the night we sat in the sun porch and made music with thumb pianos, a children’s guitar and other wacky instruments! It was a riot. I couldn’t think of a better way to start the year.

A few shots from our extended weekend spent with friends in West Virginia. I’ll share more of our country cabin adventure with you tomorrow!

So, this happened!! My baby sister is engaged!! Derek completely stunned Leah when he surprised her with that beauty on Christmas Eve! The box he pulled the ring from was actually his present from her. At midnight the night before, I unwrapped the box and replaced her gift to him with the ring, then re-wrapped it! So she thought he was opening his present and then wham! he pulls out a...

Some photos from Christmas Eve with my parents: colorful wrapping paper, silly snowballs, bright friendship bracelets from my sister, Kin Ship pillowcases for twon and a worn out pup.

Late Wednesday night, Anthony and I decided to open up our gifts from one another. We were going to wait until Christmas Eve, but we realized we’d be at our parent’s house then so we needed to do it before we headed out that way. So we gathered our prezzies, sat around the tree and took turns opening gifts and snapping pictures. It was the best little Christmas I could ever...

I’ve got some colorful gift wrapping inspiration for you today! This year, instead of buying wrapping paper, I’m using thick kraft paper that we use at the office to package shipments and sprucing it up with washi tape and fuzzy balls I picked up from the craft store. Simple, but fun.

It’s that time of year- treat time! I love making these Special ‘K’ wreaths. They’re so simple to make plus they give me the warm-n-fuzzies since they’ve always been a Christmas tradition at our house! My mom would whip up the wreaths and have us little ones plop the red hots on while they were still sticky!

I wanted to share this easy gift idea with you since Christmas is just around the corner. I collected cute bottles and jars then filled them with bath salts and sugar scrubs- easy peasy and oh so fun!

Have you guys ever made candles? After seeing this post, I really wanted to give it a whirl. I made these for my friend Tenille (I love giving handmade gifts to friends- it’s much more personal). I picked up these cute tins at a local antique store, then I was off to the craft store for supplies. Micheal’s and Hobby Lobby have whole sections of candle making goodies.
I followed...

Did a little holiday shopping this past Saturday up in Portland at Nelligan Hall. This was my first time going to A Very Portland Christmas and I’ll be sure to go back again next year. There were lots of great local, handmade goodies to check out. I picked up a really cool hand painted wood ornament from artist Kathleen Lolly (her artwork was on display at The Green Building when...
